NHS Solutions has an immediate opening for an experienced Interim Nurse Leader in Long Term Care. Our client in New England seeks a team player who will be responsible for management of satellite patient care unit including clinical oversight, personnel management, financial management, quality management and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Duties/Leadership Competencies:
- Regularly conducts rounding with patients and staff on all shifts
- Organizes the daily operations and patient care on multiple units
- Allocates appropriate staffing resources, including skill mix and experience/competency, based on acuity, to ensure patient care needs are met
- Develops charge nurses to establish appropriate patient care oversight on the nursing units
- Assists in preparation of, and monitors salary, non-salary and capital budgets for assigned areas and ensure spending within budgeted parameters in relation to the census
- Collaborates with Human Resource staff for performance related and/or disciplinary concerns.
- Hires, orients, develops and evaluates nursing staff
- Ensures safe and effective care through direct observation, timely reporting of patient incidents, unit quality monitoring, data analysis and performance improvement
- Actively participates in hospital wide quality improvement initiatives, nursing department initiatives and unit based initiatives through continuous monitoring and system improvements
- Adheres to ANA Code of Ethics and Nursing Standards of Practice
- Collaborates with all members of patient care services and nursing leadership by maintaining an active dialogue to ensure effective departmental operations, staff development/education and safe patient care
- Hires, develops, supports, evaluates and retains qualified staff
- Maintains knowledge of regulatory requirements related to patient care, including The Joint Commission and Department of Public Health/CMS. Takes steps to ensure unit compliance with these standards
- Accountable for continuous self- learning and professional development and for instilling these behaviors in direct reports
- Leads and participates in committee/task forces/projects as assigned within patient care services and/or the hospital
Key Requirements:
- Registered to practice nursing in the state
- BSN
- Minimum of 5 years of acute hospital experience with demonstrated expert clinical competence preferably in cardiopulmonary or critical care
- Prior nursing leadership experience
- Commitment to quality patient care, nursing process and the interdisciplinary team process
